What do you feel when you see this portrait?
The portrait I just finished from Nina Simone. It is my personal favourite, I love her music and this one is special to me. We all have a story, and her’s was clearly music.
Classically trained piano player, singer, songwriter, civil rights activist. I love her music and this portrait is so dear to me because of her vibrant, passionate, beautiful smile.
Painting her portrait as a story, she revealed her true self while I painted. This was who she was, true to who she really was, and in whatever mental state she was, she was good enough.
